Who’s rich enough can buy an indulgence and be absolved of :

-murder ( all those unsolved “suicidal events”, including low level bankers)

The courts are allowed to base their decisions on precedents,  which means:

–they can reinterpret/ rewrite laws

– second-guess legislators

–perpetuate an initial mistake / wrong ruling 

We saw this with the ACA ( Obamacare, health law), when the individual mandate to buy health insurance was upheld as a constitutional exercise of Congress’s taxing power, even if the  Congress didn’t write it as a tax.

The US has more lawyers per capita than any other country in the world and the legal profession is privatized and self-governing—basically a law onto itself.
